Meet the Founder
For over a decade, I’ve worked across academic medicine, health advocacy, and public art, planning programs and events for audiences ranging from 10 to 80,000. That range taught me how to notice what people don’t name but always feel: whether the timing is too tight, whether a transition is smooth, and whether the right details have been handled quietly in the background. It’s the same attention I bring to travel planning.
Before I ever thought about becoming a travel advisor, travel had already changed the way I think and perceive the world around me. Studying abroad in Gothenburg, Sweden showed me how much we gain when we experience a place with curiosity — the language, the traditions, the history, and the ordinary moments that make a destination feel real.
What Travel Means to Me
Travel has taught me that we rarely remember every landmark we checked off a list.
We remember the local host who insisted we try his homemade limoncello. Getting lost and stumbling into the best meal of the trip. Hearing church bells echo across a quiet piazza. The silence before sunrise at Fushimi Inari. Watching your child make friends without sharing the same language.
Those moments are rarely the ones we plan for, but they’re the ones we carry home.
A well-planned journey should leave room for what cannot be planned. That’s the kind of travel I hope every Leiva Destinations journey makes possible.
My Focus
I specialize in Japan and Europe—places I have a deep appreciation for and have traveled to multiple times.
Japan is especially close to my heart. I never get tired of returning, and studying Japanese allows me to experience it with greater understanding each time.That perspective shapes how I plan—with attention to pacing, neighborhoods, transit, etiquette, and the small details that can make a trip feel smoother and more meaningful. For first-time travelers, I make navigating Japan easier. For return travelers, I help look past the tourist spots and shape something that feels fresh.
